Default Market Offer
You may have heard the terms ‘default market offer’ or ‘reference price’ in the media recently. They refer to a new Electricity Retail Code that requires all energy retailers operating in New South Wales, South Australia and South East Queensland must make a DMO available to residential and small business customers. From 1 July 2019, the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) set a price-cap on what retailers can charge any customer on a standing offer. The DMO is designed to help you compare market offers, as retailers must now compare all their offers against the same base rate or 'reference price'. While it's our firm belief and recommendation that no Australian should ever be on any retailer’s’ DMO or VDO, including Powerclub's – we compiled a list of frequently asked questions that can help you to understand more about how it may affect you.
