The Energy Rebate helps eligible Queensland households cover the costs of their energy bills. Eligible Queensland residential Members can receive a rebate of $340.85 per year (GST inclusive) on the cost of their energy, which is applied to their bill as a daily credit.
Eligibility Criteria
Rebates are available to people who have any of the below:
> Pensioner Concession Card
> Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card (and receive the War Widow/er Pension or special rate TPI Pension)
> Queensland Seniors Card
> Commonwealth Health Care Card (Electricity Rebate only)
> Asylum seeker status (residents will need to provide their ImmiCard details) (Electricity Rebate only)
Eligible Commonwealth Health Care Card holders and asylum seekers may receive payments back-dated to 1 January 2017. Contact 13 QGOV (13 74 68) for more information.
To be eligible, you must be the electricity account holder and live alone or share your principal place of residence with (only) any of the below:
> your spouse
> another person who hold a Pensioner Concession Card or Queensland Seniors Card
> another person that is wholly dependent on you
> another person who receives an income support payment from Centrelink, the Family Assistance Office, or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and who do not pay rent
> another person who lives with the cardholder to provide care and assistance, and who does not pay rent.
Application
Applicants must also declare that no other persons except casual visitors share the residence with them. Full Eligibility details for the rebate are provided on the Electricity Concession Application Form.
